Facilitator
Cary Haining is related to Warwa and Bardi Aboriginal people of Northern Western Australia and has a deep, personal interest in contributing to the well-being of Aboriginal/Indigenous peoples. Since 1990 Cary has been delivering and facilitating ‘Personal Development Programs’; teaching communication skills, behaviour management and conflict resolution, including providing on-going Counselling to both men and women who had previously participated in the workshops.
During 2004/2005 Cary completed a one year training program through ‘Centacare’ Sunshine Coast in the delivery of Prevention of Violence Programs to men. Many of these men were court mandated.
For the past six years Cary has been co-facilitating prevention of violence programs at Woodford Prison. In 2010 Cary completed a Masters of Indigenous Studies Well-Being at ‘Southern Cross University’ NSW, at the same time working alongside Professor Judy Atkinson in PNG and Tasmania, delivering We Al-li programs on Violence Prevention and Training Community Workers in Community Recovery, including conflict management & resolution, Violence Prevention & Trauma Recovery. He received the Southern Cross University ‘Indigenous Community Engagement’ award for this work. During the period 2011-13 Cary has been working with Cross Borders [Alice Springs NT] Co-facilitating Prevention of Violence Programs to Aboriginal Men in the APY Lands, Central Australia. He has also Co-facilitating Training of Staff & Community workers at the Alice Springs Prison. The work is a combined initiative of the NT/SA/WA & Federal Government. This involves on-going communication working in each community for a month at a time with respected Elders & Community Leaders monitoring this work.
Since 2014, Cary has been building a structure known as The Centre for Healing at Kin Kin Queensland, and is soon to begin co-facilitating Personal Development Programs on site. Cary is currently working for Cedarton Forrester’s Co-Operative as a Conflict Resolution / Management Facilitator. All this work has been in South East QLD.
